Australia Super Validation
Validate super fund USI, ABN, TFN and member details before SuperStream submission - catch rejections before they cost you.
Why pre-validate?
A SuperStream contribution message that fails a fund or clearing house data check is bounced back days later - often after the quarterly Superannuation Guarantee due date. A single bad USI, an ABN that fails the check digit, a placeholder member name or a payment total that does not match the contribution lines is enough to reject the whole message and expose the employer to the Superannuation Guarantee Charge.
This module validates every contribution before it leaves Odoo, against the real ATO and regulator algorithms, so your payroll team fixes the data once and lodges clean.
What it checks
Fund identifiers
- USI - Unique Superannuation Identifier: structural shape plus the embedded 11-digit fund ABN validated with the ATO modulus-89 check.
- ABN - full ATO modulus-89 check-digit validation, with
conventional
NN NNN NNN NNNformatting. - ESA - Electronic Service Address alias for an SMSF messaging gateway (structural SuperStream rule).
- BSB - six-digit Bank-State-Branch with state derivation; account number structural check.
- USI/ABN cross-check: the fund ABN must match the ABN embedded in the USI.
Member & contribution data
- TFN - ATO weighted modulus-11 check; required for personal/voluntary contributions, warned when missing for employer contributions (no-TFN tax risk).
- Names - mandatory components, length limits and placeholder rejection (UNKNOWN, TEST, N/A...).
- Date of birth - format, future-date and age sanity.
- Address - AU state/territory code and 4-digit postcode validation.
- Amounts - non-negative, at-least-one-positive, and the payment total must equal the sum of the contribution lines.
- Period - start/end coherence.
Validation findings
Each contribution is graded with a clear status and an itemised list of findings. Errors block lodgement; warnings are surfaced but do not stop a clean send.

How it fits your workflow
- Maintain a register of destination super funds (APRA funds with a USI, or SMSFs with an ABN + ESA), each showing a live valid / needs-attention flag.
- Stage member contributions into a batch (one pay period), optionally pre-filling member identity from the linked HR employee.

Scope & boundary
This is a pre-submission validation utility. It checks and grades your SuperStream contribution data inside Odoo. It does not transmit contributions to a clearing house or fund gateway and is not a registered SuperStream gateway or clearing house - it is the data-quality gate you run first so that your clearing-house lodgement succeeds the first time.
Built on the Odoo Community base (Accounting + HR). No external accounts, no data leaves your database.
