What it does Legal numbering policy per journal: define the expected pattern (prefix, year/month tokens, padding width, reset frequency: never / yearly / monthly) and the module parses every posted number into a comparable index. Continuity audit run — pick a journal and a date range; the engine sorts the parsed sequence numbers and reports every gap (missing number), every duplicate, and every out-of-order / pattern-mismatch entry as individual anomaly lines you can hand to the auditor. Reset-aware — understands yearly/monthly resets so a January `0001` after a December `0742` is *not* flagged as a gap. Coverage KPIs — expected count, found count, missing count, duplicate count and a continuity score per run. Re-runnable & versioned — each audit is a stored record with its lines, so you keep an evidence trail (draft → running → done).
