France Statutory Paid Leave (Congés Payés)

Code du travail acquisition, reference period, jours ouvrables/ouvrés, round-up rule and paid-leave allowance for the Odoo Time Off engine

France Paid Leave (CP) is an add-on rule pack that teaches the Odoo Time Off engine the statutory paid-leave rules of the French Labour Code (Code du travail, congés payés, articles L3141-1 et seq.). It computes each employee's lawful acquisition over the reference period, applies the jours-ouvrables / jours-ouvrés counting methods and the statutory round-up, evaluates the taking-period deadline, values the leave under the paid-leave allowance rules and generates the matching Time Off allocation - so HR never hand-calculates a French congés-payés entitlement again. Built on the Community Human Resources and Time Off apps, no Enterprise payroll required. Compatible with Odoo 18 and Odoo 19.

L3141-3 Acquisition & cap

The employee acquires 2.5 jours ouvrables per month of actual work, capped at 30 jours ouvrables (five weeks) per reference year. An alternative jours ouvrés count (25/12 per month, 25 max) is supported for employers who book leave on the five-day week.

Reference period

Acquisition runs over the reference period - the décret default of 1 June to 31 May, or the calendar year where a collective agreement sets it. The pack clamps each employee's employment span to the chosen period and shows its exact start and end dates.

L3141-4 equivalence

A month of acquisition is reached by four weeks or twenty-four days of actual work, so absences never reduce the right more than proportionally. Optional worked-day and worked-week figures feed this equivalence; assimilated periods (L3141-5) add their own months.

L3141-7 round-up

When the computed number of days is not whole, the entitlement is rounded up to the next whole day (entier immédiatement supérieur). 17.5 acquired days therefore become 18 - applied automatically on every record.

Taking period & balance

Acquired leave must be taken within the period that follows the close of acquisition. The pack computes the taking deadline, the remaining bookable balance and - outside any preserving agreement - the leave lost once the deadline passes.

L3141-24 allowance

The paid-leave allowance is the more favourable of the tenth rule (10 % of the reference-period gross) and the salary-maintenance rule. The pack values both per day, keeps the better one, and computes the termination indemnity on untaken days.

What it does

ProvisionImplemented behaviour
L3141-32.5 jours ouvrables per month, capped at 30 per reference year (5 weeks).
Jours ouvrésAlternative 25/12-per-month count, capped at 25, with a fairness comparison.
Reference period1 June - 31 May décret period or calendar-year agreement; span clamping.
L3141-4Four-week / twenty-four-day equivalence so months are never under-counted.
L3141-5Assimilated periods (paid leave, maternity, work injury, …) credited as months.
L3141-7Round-up of fractional leave days to the next whole day.
Taking periodDeadline, remaining balance, valid vs lost days, optional agreement carry-over.
L3141-24Tenth vs salary-maintenance allowance, per day, and termination indemnity.

How it works

Set each employee's statutory hire date and - for the allowance - the reference-period gross and the daily maintained wage on the French Leave (CP) tab of the employee form. Run French Leave ▸ Generate Paid Leave for an acquisition year, a reference-period basis and a counting method; the pack creates one entitlement record per employee, shows the full breakdown (period dates, acquisition months, rate, raw and rounded days, cap flag, taking deadline, balance and allowance) and - on request - generates the matching Time Off allocation against the leave type you configured in Settings. The whole computation lives in a pure-Python engine that is fully unit tested.

Disclosure: this module computes congés-payés figures locally inside Odoo and creates Time Off allocations; it sends no data to any third party. The figures implement the published Code du travail provisions - always confirm against current law and any applicable collective agreement (convention collective) before relying on them for payroll.
