US Bid/RFP Estimating
Bid / RFP Estimating Worksheet with material, labor and markup math
Bid / RFP Estimating Worksheet with material, labor and markup math
Key Features
Takeoff Line Costing
Each bid.estimate.line records quantity, material unit cost, labor hours/rate and equipment/other unit cost, with an optional reference product that seeds the description, standard cost and unit of measure. Material, labor and equipment/other subtotals are rolled into a per-line cost subtotal automatically.
Markup & Margin per Line
Every line can follow the bid's Default Markup % or override it with its own Line Markup % via the “Use Default Markup” toggle. Price subtotal, unit price, margin amount and margin % are computed from the effective markup so mixed-margin lines are visible at a glance.
Bid-Wide Rollups
Total material cost, total labor hours/cost, total equipment cost, total direct cost, overhead amount, contingency amount, total cost, total bid price, gross profit, gross margin % and blended markup % are all computed on the bid.estimate header from its takeoff lines, with overhead and contingency applied on top of direct cost.
Solve to Target Margin
Set a Target Gross Margin % and run the “Solve to Target Margin” action: it back-solves the uniform markup required across all lines to hit that margin (price = cost ÷ (1 – margin/100)), applies it to every line and posts the recalculated markup to the chatter.
Bid vs. Actual Variance
Once a job delivers, enter Actual Cost and Actual Revenue on the bid and the module computes Cost Variance, Cost Variance %, Revenue Variance, Actual Margin % and Margin Variance in percentage points against the original estimate, so you can see where takeoffs ran hot or cold.
Draft → Submitted → Won/Lost Workflow
Bids move through Draft, Submitted, Won and Lost states with guard rails: submission is blocked without takeoff lines or with a zero total price, and only submitted bids can be marked Won or Lost, each stamping the submission/decision date and logging changes through mail.thread tracking.
Client-Ready Proposal PDF
The Print Proposal action renders a QWeb report with the customer contact card, bid reference, project code, estimator and validity date, the scope of work notes, a full line-item table with quantities and unit/line pricing, overhead and contingency rows, the total bid price and the proposal terms & conditions.
