Freeze inventory value on state lien / assessment dates for business personal property tax renditions
Key Features
Lien-date snapshots
Lien-date snapshots — freeze on-hand quantity and value of every product as of a jurisdiction's assessment date, stored line by line so the total is fully reproducible and audit-defensible for years.
Jurisdiction register
Jurisdiction register — hold each taxing authority (state, county or city) with its recurring lien date, rendition due date, assessment ratio, tax rate and freeport rules; the next lien and next filing dates are computed for you.
Cost or market valuation
Cost or market valuation — value the snapshot at product standard cost or at retail/list price, whichever basis the jurisdiction's rendition requires, or enter values manually per line.
Location & warehouse scoping
Location & warehouse scoping — snapshot the whole company or restrict to specific warehouses or internal stock locations, matching how each county wants inventory reported by situs.
Freeport / in-transit exemptions
Freeport / in-transit exemptions — flag goods that qualify for a freeport or interstate-commerce exemption so they are excluded from assessed value.
Property-tax renditions
Property-tax renditions — turn one or more snapshots into a rendition that computes assessed value (gross value x assessment ratio), subtracts exemptions, and estimates tax from the jurisdiction rate.
Locked & tracked
Locked & tracked — filing a snapshot locks its lines against edits, and every record is mail-thread enabled so status changes and value edits are logged in the chatter.
Lien-date reminders
Lien-date reminders — a daily scheduled action raises an activity ahead of each jurisdiction's lien date so nobody forgets to run the snapshot on time.
Capture wizard
Capture wizard — a guided wizard picks the jurisdiction, lien date, valuation basis and locations, then builds and values the snapshot in one step.
Year-over-year register
Year-over-year register — dedicated filtered and grouped views by jurisdiction, tax year and status so prior-year renditions stay at hand.

Why Choose This Module
In most US states, business inventory is taxed as business personal property, and the taxable value is whatever inventory you were holding on a single moment in time — the lien date (also called the assessment or valuation date, most commonly January 1). Weeks or months later the county assessor sends a rendition (a "BPP return") that must report the value of that inventory as it stood on the lien date.
